PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a required joint strength even when high-speed welding is performed by providing a difference in level on the face of the side irradiated with a high energy beam, in an abutting part of a metallic material, forming the difference in level by having an inclination on the face of a base where one material is fixed, and setting the extent of difference in level to a specific range in accordance with the thickness of the material. SOLUTION: A laser beam is used as a high energy beam, and the power intensity is set to be 2.5-140 kW/mm2. Metallic materials 5a, 5b are placed on a fixing base 3 and held with a clamping tool 4a, 4b. An inclination is given on the face of the material fixing base 3 on which the material 5a is placed, and a difference in level is formed in the material abutting part. A beam focus 2 is set on the lower part of the difference in level, and the laser beam (high energy beam) 1 is irradiated for welding. The difference-in-level quantity g is desirably set with respect to the material thickness t so that, if t<3 mm, 0.2 mm <=g<=0.5t and that, if t>=3 mm, 0.2 mm<=g<=1.5 mm.
|
