PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine control of transmission torque near a geared neutral point and rapid, accurate control of a change gear ratio. SOLUTION: In an infinite change gear ratio continuously variable transmission using a toroidal type continuously variable transmission, a hydraulic cylinder is provided to drive a power roller through a trunnion, and a + torque control valve 40 communicated with a port 46inc and a - torque control valve 45 communicated with a port 46dec are provided on the drain side lower reaches of a shift control valve 46 for controlling oil pressure of oil chambers 30A, 30B of the hydraulic cylinder according to the operating state of a vehicle. Differential pressureΔP of the oil chambers 30A, 30B can therefore be variably controlled between O and supply pressure PL.
