PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lining element for tunnel construction and a tunnel lining construction method which can dispense with a processing concerning a joint part and easily increase or adjust tractive force even if the penetration length of the element is made larger. SOLUTION: This lining element for tunnel construction includes a long reference lining element 4 which has a pair of fixing plates 6, 6, and a pair of slide plates 7, 7 installed between both ends of the fixing plates 6, 6 slidably along the longitudinal direction and has a square section as a whole, and a long connecting lining element 5 which has a U-shaped member 13 defined by three fixing plates 12, 12, 12 and having a U-shaped section, and a slide plate 14 installed on an opening side end part of the U-shaped member 13 slidably along the longitudinal direction and has a square section as a whole.
