PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the appearance of applique or the generation of defective articles by firmly fixing a piece of cloth for applique to a cloth by two kinds or more of stop stitches. SOLUTION: A device for preparing embroidery data for applique includes a means for inputting the outline data of a piece of cloth, a means for displaying a selecting screen of a plurality of kinds of stop stitches on a display 14 so as to select two kinds or more of stop stitches from the displayed stop stitches, a means for preparing two kinds or more of stop stitch data D5 and D6 for forming the selected stop stitches between inner periphery data D3 and outer periphery data D4 on the basis of the outline data, and a means for forming fancy stitch data for forming fancy stitches on the basis of the outline data.
