摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain in high yield an alkoxysilane useful for e.g. coating materials by reaction between metallic silicon particles and an alcohol in a vapor phase while fluidizing the metallic silicon particles and medium particles in a mixed state so as to entirely obviate such problems as impurity contamination and enable reaction temperature and reactivity to be uniformly controlled. SOLUTION: This alkoxysilane is obtained by reaction between metallic silicon particles and an alcohol in the presence of a catalyst such as metallic copper (the amount to be used is pref. 0.001-0.1 mol per mol of the metallic silicon) in a vapor phase while fluidizing the metallic silicon particles and inert medium particles such as alumina or silica in a mixed state; wherein it is preferable to use the metallic silicon particles previously carried with the catalyst or use the metallic silicon particles previously carried with the catalyst and activated by pretreatment; and the size and density of the medium particles satisfy the relationship [Dm is the average size of the medium particles on a specific surface area basis (m); ρm is the density of the medium particles (kg/m3); Ds is the average size of the silicon particles (m); ρs is the density of the silicon particles (kg/m3)].
