METHOD FOR PRODUCING FILAMENT WINDING COMPOSITE CASING AND MANDREL FOR MOLDING FILAMENT WINDING COMPOSITE CASING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mandrel capable of easily and inexpensively molding a filament winding composite casing into a desired shape and simple in treatment and capable of being rapidly removed from the completed casing. SOLUTION: A filament winding composite casing is produced by a mandrel 2 having an outer surface having a desired shape and comprising a fragile foam material. An uncured casing having an access port 16 is molded by winding a filament around the outer surface 4 of the mandrel 2 and the resin of the casing is subsequently cured to mold a cured composite casing. By destructing the mandrel 2 into removable broken pieces, the mandrel 2 is separated from the composite casing and the substantially whole of the mandrel 2 is discharged from the composite casing. The broken pieces of the mandrel 2 are removed from the composite casing through the access port 16.
