PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a catalyst which exhibits activity at least equal to that of a known catalyst in hydrogenation de-metallization and can give particularly high results in hydrogen treating as a catalyst for the hydrogen treatment of a hydrocarbon feedstock in a fixed bed reactor and to use the catalyst in the hydrogenation purification and hydrogenation conversion of the feedstock. SOLUTION: The catalyst contains an alumina-based carrier mainly in the form of an extruded material and at least one catalytic metal belonging to the group VIB or a compound of the metal and/or, optionally, at least one catalytic metal belonging to the group VIII or a compound of the metal. The catalyst further contains at least one additive element selected from the group consisting of boron, phosphorus, elements (halogens) belonging to the group VII and silicon. |
