PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide apparatus and method for reforming an appearance of a roller to recover the good appearance of the roller without depending upon a reforming means such as tape polishing or the like. SOLUTION: A roller 2 rotatably placed to be driven on an inner surface 1a of a rotatable cylindrical rotary mold 1 is gradually moved in an axial direction 23 as it is rotated to be driven. For example, to eliminate a surface protrusion 2d of a coating layer 2c of the developing roller 2, the protrusion 2d is brought into slidable contact with the hot inner surface 2a while axially moving caused by an asymmetry of a center of gravity of the roller when rotated in the state that a part of the surface 1a is heated by a heating means 3, thereby recovering good and natural appearance. |
