PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently backfill a ditch without destroying the ground in the vicinity of the ditch. SOLUTION: A vessel 10 is set to an inclined posture to fall earth and sand in a hopper 16, the vessel 10 is turned to one side of right and left sides to locate an outlet 26 of the hopper 16 to an upper part of a ditch C, an auger 18 in the hopper 16 is rotated to travel a traveling device 2 along the ditch C while falling the earth and sand from the outlet 26, and the earth and sand fall in the ditch C to backfill. Hereby, the ditch can be efficiently backfilled without destroying the ground in the vicinity of the ditch only by adjusting the traveling device 2 to position far away from the ditch C, and performing an inclining and turning operation for the vessel 10.
