DETECTION OF NEU GENE PRODUCT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new nucleic acid probe which reacts peculiarly with neu proto-oncogene originating in the mammals or a base sequence existing in the oncogene and is useful as a reagent or the like for cancer diagnosis in clinical oncology by the detection of the point mutation of oncogene. SOLUTION: This nucleic acid probe is a new nucleic acid probe which reacts peculiarly with neu proto-oncogene originating in the mammals or a nucleotide sequence existing in the oncogene, and the DNA probe of an abnormal oncogene caused by the point mutation comprising point nucleotide change is usable as a reagent or the like for cancer diagnosis on clinical oncology. The nucleic acid probe is obtained by screening out a cDNA library obtained by mRNA in a cervical tumor cell group by using a partial sequence of rat neu gene as a probe, cloning human neu gene, introducing point mutation to this gene and confirming the existence of the point mutation by the use of differential hybridization and a kit for deciding double strand sequence.
