PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam phase varying device which can more properly execute advancing control after engine start. SOLUTION: A cam phase varying device 10 has a housing 12 disposed to a sprocket 11 rotating in synchronization with a crankshaft, a rotor 21 which is relatively rotatable with respect to the housing 12 and rotates in synchronization with a camshaft 20, and a vane 40, a lagging oil chamber and an advancing oil chamber which compose a hydraulic actuator 53. The cam phase varying device further has control means 90, a temperature sensor 91, an engine operation sensor 92, and so on. The control means 90 controls the operation of a control valve 70 based on the output of the engine operation sensor 92, and executes variable control of a cam phase. The control means 90 is configured so as to stop cam phase variable control within a predetermined time after engine start, and to shorten the predetermined time in accordance with an engine temperature detected by a temperature sensor 91.
