PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease a drop in viscosity of a water paint formulation and decrease the amount of a thickener required to achieve a predetermined viscosity of the paint and alleviate coloring caused by a surfactant by adding a cyclodextrin-containing compound to the water paint formulation. SOLUTION: A dextrin-containing compound of 0.5-2 wt.% selected fromα-cyclodextrin,β-cyclodextrin,γ-cyclodextrin, ethoxylated cyclodextrin or propoxylated cyclodextrin having a solubility of 0.5-2 wt.% in 100 g of water and a hydrophobic thickener selected from hydrophobic polyethoxylated urethane, hydrophobic alkali-soluble emulsion polymer, hydrophobic hydroxyethylcellulose or hydrophobic polyacrylamide are added to an aqueous paint preparation containing a polyurethane-based associative thickener in a low solids concentration of 3-12 wt.%. |
