PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve impact at secondary collision even when it is difficult to properly and sufficiently perform pulling-in operation of a steering column when an automobile causes a front collision by operation instead of it or operation addable to it. SOLUTION: In a steering device constituted in such a way that a steering column 1 is installed on a fixing member 2, and when a load F not less than a prescribed value is inputted to a car body front part from the front, an installing state of the whole or a part of the steering column 1 to the fixing member 2 can be released, when an installing state of the steering column 1 to the fixing member 2 is released, the steering column 1 is constituted so as to be rotatably supported in the direction for moving the upper end of the steering column 1 toward the front of vehicle.
