PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse osmosis composite membrane having a high desalting rate, a large water generating amt. and low in decrease in the water generating amt. SOLUTION: A polyamide polymer layer is formed on a porous supporting membrane by polymerizing and condensing a polyfunctional amine compd. having at least two amino groups in one molecule and a polyfunctional acid halide having at least two acid halide groups in one molecule. Then, a water-soluble org. polymer is applied to the surface of the polymerized layer and crosslinked to form a water-insoluble crosslinked polymer layer to form a separation function layer on the porous supporting membrane. At least one kind of group selected from secondary amines, hydroxy groups and ether groups as hydrophilic groups is introduced into the separation function layer.
