摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold a valve element to a desired opening and to increase the maximum flow passage area, while preventing soot and NOx from being emitted from an internal combustion engine by changing the flow passage area of recirculating exhaust gas by the rotation of the valve element and arranging the rotary shaft of the valve element perpendicularly to the flow direction of the recirculating exhaust gas. SOLUTION: An EGR control valve 31 is so formed that the rotary shaft 61 of a valve element 60 is arranged perpendicularly to the flowing direction of EGR gas and arranged in the center of the valve element 60. The flow passage area of the EGR gas is changed by rotating the valve element 60 about the rotary shaft 61. This constitution allows the EGR control valve 31 to hold a desired aperture without affected by the negative pressure even under the conditions that the negative pressure is generated in an air suction pipe just like a case of arranging a throttle valve. On the other hand, when the EGR passage width w1 is coincided with the maximum flow width W2 of the EGR gas, the maximum flow passage width W2 of the EGR gas can be set larger than the conventional one without enlarging the EGR passage width w1.
