PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To firmly fix a cam support plate to a tappet body. SOLUTION: A top surface of a tappet body 2 is provided with a recessed portion 4, which has an upwardly expanded portion 5 at an opening in the upper surface thereof. The expanded portion 5 forming a triangular section has its apex within the range of the base, and the base angle smaller than 90 deg.. A protruded portion 9, which can be fitted into the recessed potion 4 with clearance is provided on a portion that is opposite to the recessed portion 4, on a bottom surface of a cam support plate 3. After placing the cam support plate 3 on the tappet body 2 while engaging the recessed portion 4 with protruded portion 9, the tappet body 2 and the cam support plate 3 are pressure welded. This causes the protruded portion 5 and a part of a top wall 2a on which the protruded portion 5 is formed to plastically flow into the recessed portion 4 and lock the protruded portion 9 into the recessed portion 4. Consequently the cam support plate 3 is fixed to the tappet body 2.
