PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic shock absorber for a drill column simple in structure, having a long service life and operational reliability. SOLUTION: A pneumatic shock absorber for a drill column has a first connecting member connected to the rear of a drill column and a second connecting member connected to the front of the drill column. Both connecting members define a pneumatic cylinder chamber 18 in which a bush 21 is elongated. The bus 21 moves inward when the thrust force axially applied to the drill column is present, and has an air passage closed by a seal 27. Thus, the compressed air is confined in the cylinder chamber 18 and compressed. By this method, the shock applied to the front end connecting member by a deep hole drilling hammer drill is eliminated and kept from being applied to the rear end of a drill rod.
