PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition containing methyl cellulose, used for oral cavities, and scarcely changing the viscosity with the passage of time. SOLUTION: This composition for oral cavities contains methyl cellulose. Therein, (i) polyoxyethylene-cured caster oil and/or (ii) polyoxyethylene/ polyoxypropylene copolymer are added. The polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene copolymer used therein is a block copolymer comprising a polyoxyethylene portion A and a polyoxypropylene portion B. The polyoxyethylene portion A is contained in the 60-90 wt.%, preferably 70-85 wt.%, in the molecule, and the polyoxypropylene portion B has a mol.wt. of 2,000-4,500, preferably 2,500-4,000.
