PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject cosmetic having an excellent feel and an excellent preventing effect on split hair, useful for a hair shampoo, a hair rinse, a hair treatment, etc., containing raffinose in a specific ratio. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains 0.1-25 wt.%, preferably 0.5-10 wt.% of raffinose. Preferably the cosmetic contains generally 0.1-99.9 wt.% of one or more kinds selected from a surfactant such as N-lauroyl-N-carboxymethyl-N- hydroxyethylimidazolium betaine and a polyhydric alcohol such as 1,3-butylene glycol. The cosmetic is useful as a hair cream, a hair color, a hair tonic, etc.
