PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bottom dead center position controller for press machine by which a slide position at the bottom dead center is controlled with high precision and repetition accuracy even in the case of affecting disturbance such as vibrations owing to the load in press working and the fluctuation of overall gaps in a driving mechanism. SOLUTION: A slide position 6 is controlled by feeding back positional information directly detected by a linear scale, i.e., a direct detector to a slide position command signal 5 in a working area up to a position X outside a press working area. The slide position 6 is controlled by switching positional information into positional information measured by an encoder provided at the position far from a die without affecting the disturbance owing to press working, i.e., an indirect detector and feeding back it to the slide position command signal 5 in the press working area from a position X somewhat above the press working area 7 to the bottom dead center Y. Therefore, the slide position 6 is controlled without affecting disturbance and the fixed fluctuation shown with the arrow 8 caused by rigidity and natural vibration of the press machine owing to press working or the like is generated alone to obtain the stable and highly precise bottom dead center.
