PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely and surely start an arc by arranging a device to heat an electrode positioned at the center of a torch body of a welding torch. SOLUTION: The electrode, which is positioned at the center of a torch body 6 consisting of a nearly cylindrical metal member 7 and a nearly cylindrical insulation member 8 encircling the metal member, is held in contact with a collet 10 which is held in contact with a collet body 11 held in contact with the metal member 7. A heating device 21 to heat the electrode 9 is arranged to the welding torch. The heating device 21 consists of a heater or a contact heat generator, etc., a thermister, etc., is integrated to make a heating temp. constant. A fastening fixture 22, fixing the electrode 9, is nearly made cylindrical for the heating device 21. In the case the heating device 21 is heat resistant free from arc heat, it can be arranged to the tip side of the collet body 11, further, the metal member 7, the collet 10, the collet body 11 are made of copper or copper alloy in consideration of electrical and heat conductivity.
