PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water dispersion of epoxy resin excellent in storage stability, free from thermal coloring of a cured material and especially useful for paint, adhesive agent, fiber-treating agent, etc., by making the dispersion include a special bisphenol-based polyether compound and water in a special ratio in the epoxy resin. SOLUTION: The subject dispersion comprises (A) preferably 100 pts.wt. epoxy resin which is a polyglycidylether of a phenolic novolak compound, (B) 0.01-30 pts.wt. one or more bisphenol-based polyether compound in which (i) an alkylene oxide addition product of a bisphenol compound shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are each H or alkyl) and (ii) a polyethyleneglycol or a polyoxyethylene-polyoxypropylene block polymer or its random polymer are condensed with (iii) a polyisocyanate compound and (C) 20-700 pts.wt. water. Preferably the component (i) is an addition product containing 1-80 mol alkylene oxide.
