PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect accurately locking of a motor by a method wherein a motor lock detecting level is set high during a time which is slightly shorter than a time required for a cleaning member to transfer between both ends of a wire electrode, and after an elapse of the slightly shorter time, the detecting level is set high. SOLUTION: A propulsion slider 7 screwed on a threaded shaft 6 to be rotated by a motor 5, and a guiding slider 9 sliding along a guide shaft 8 parallel to the threaded shaft 6 are integrated by connecting by a stay 10, and four cleaning members 4 are supported on the stay 4 to constitute a cleaning unit 11. Then, a motor locking detection level by a motor locking detection means is set at a high level only for a time T1 slightly shorter than a time required for the cleaning member 4 to transfer between a home position A and a reversely turning position B. After T1 has elapsed, the motor locking detection level is set at a low level. Thereby false detection of an excess current owing to increase of a load in cleaning operation is reduced, and stable cleaning operation is executed.
