PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the shape of the line-winding around the spool without enlargement of the reel main body. SOLUTION: The oscillating mechanism 6 for the spinning reel is a mechanism for reciprocating the spool 12 of the spinning reel in the shaft direction in the interconnection with the rotation of the handle 1 and is equipped with the gear member 21 and the slider 22. The gear member 21 rotates around the shaft almost in parallel with the rotary shaft of the handle in the interconnection with the rotation of the handle and has a connection project 21a on the periphery of its one side face. The slider 22 is immovably attached on the rear end side of the spool shaft 20 having the spool on its contrary top edge and has the connection groove 22a that is formed with the curved part 21b that curves in convex on one side of the spool shaft and the linear part 21c extending from the both edges of the curved part in the direction crossing the spool shaft and can freely reciprocate in the spool shaft direction.
