PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detergent composition excellent in non-foamability and improved in detergent effects and storage stability by incorporating a non- foaming detergent, a stabilizer and an alkenylsuccinic acid (anhydride). SOLUTION: There are compounded 25-45 pts.wt. of a non-foaming detergent of formula I, 15-25 pts.wt. of a stabilizer comprising a monoester/diester type phosphate ester obtained by reacting phosphoric anhydride with a 4-12C aliphatic alcohol, and 30-60 pts.wt. of an alkenylsuccinic acid (anhydride) of formula II. In formula I, R1 is 8-20C, particularly 8-12C alkyl, octylphenyl or nonylphenyl; (n) is 8-15; R2 is 3-5C alkoxy, poly(oxyalkylene) of formula III, benzyloxy or Cl; R' is 1-2C alkyl; and (p) is 1-10. In the formula II, (n) is 4-12 and its anhydride is a direct derivative. The non-foaming detergent composition is a transparent liquid, stable at least for 60 days at a temperature of -15/+40 deg.C and soluble in an alkaline solution.
