PRODUCTION OF CARBOXYPOLYSACCHARIDE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing a carboxypolysaccharide by using a combination of a ruthenium compound and an oxidizer, wherein the ruthenium compound is recovered in a simple and easy way and reused for oxidation. SOLUTION: In the process for producing a carboxypolysaccharide by oxidizing a polysaccharide with a combination of a ruthenium compound and an oxidizer, (1) a polysaccharide is added to a reaction fluid containing a carboxypolysaccharide and a ruthenium compound to precipitate the ruthenium compound, (2) the ruthenium compound and the polysaccharide are recovered by separation, and (3) the recovered polysaccharide and ruthenium compound are reused for oxidation.
