PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device intended to maintain the internal pressure of a steamer at a specified level and prevent the surface of sealing rubber roll from being damaged so as to maintain the smoothness of the surface. SOLUTION: This sealing device has such a scheme that, one side of each of lip seal pieces 17 closing both side ends in the circumferential direction of a sealing rubber roll 15 of a gap 16 formed between a sealing base 11 and the sealing rubber roll 15 is fixed onto the sealing base 11, and the other side is abutted along the generator direction of the sealing rubber roll 15, and the gap space partitioned by both the lip seal pieces 17 is furnished with a means for feeding water with a pressure nearly equal to or higher than the internal pressure of a steamer.
