PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of preparing polycyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate which is excellent in the stability to heat, resistance to hydrolysis and color tone of the product polymer and shows high rates of melt polymerization and solid phase polymerization. SOLUTION: The method of preparing polycyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate comprises reacting a glycol component composed primarily of cyclohexanedimethanol with a bifunctional carboxylic acid component composed primarily of terephthalic acid or a lower alkyl ester component of a bifunctional carboxylic acid composed primarily of dimethyl terephthalate in the presence of [A] a titanium compound and [B] a metallic compound of the second group in the periodic table as polymerization catalysts to produce polycyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate.
