PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an apparatus and to use a space effectively. SOLUTION: A paper sheet sorting apparatus is composed of a paper sheet sorting part in which a paper sheet sending passage 11 formed in the shape of a rack which houses paper sheets, which are sorted according to address information and supplied one by one, in a horizontally piled state is installed, a storage rack 6 in which paper sheet storage pipe line 70 having an accumulation opening in the surface facing the paper sheet discharge opening of the passage 11 is formed in the shape of a rack in response to the passage 11, and a transfer dolly 5 having a paper sheet junction path which is arranged horizontally movably between the sorting part and the rack 6, has the first opening corresponding to the paper sheet discharge opening on one end side and the second opening corresponding to the accumulation opening of the storage rack on the other end side, with the first and second openings made to correspond to the discharge and accumulation openings respectively by horizontal movement, receives the paper sheets piled up in the passage 11 in a piled state, and transfers the paper sheets into the pipe line 70 in a piled state.
