A converging electrode in a gas discharge tube has a plurality of converging apertures, thereby providing two or more luminous fluxes of the same quality oriented in the same direction and producing two or more high-flexibility, high-grade light beams simply and positively. In addition, since the gas discharge tube can be provided with a large total aperture area even when individual converging aperture areas are downsized, a stable discharge startup can be ensured. As a result, a lighting performance of the gas discharge tube can be enhanced while individual converging apertures are positively downsized and a higher spot-lighting feature of each luminous flux is promoted. |
