PURPOSE: An optical recording apparatus is provided to perform twe steps of recording process with a single laser beam generator so that manufacture cost is reduced. CONSTITUTION: An optical recording apparatus having two steps includes a laser beam generating device (400) for generating laser beam having a single wavelength. The laser beam having single wavelength is flew into a non-linear device (402). The non-linear device (402) generates laser beams in which the wavelength of one laser beam is the same as the laser beam generated from the laser beam generating device (400) and the wavelength of the other laser beam is half of the single laser beam. A prism (404) is split the laser beams flew into from the non-linear device (402), i.e., the wavelength of one laser beam is the same as the laser beam generated from the laser beam generating device (400) and the wavelength of the other laser beam is half of the single laser beam. That is, by using a frequency doubling, two wavelengths are made, thereby capable of being the recording method having two steps.
