STAR POLYMERS AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: Star polymers prepared from vinyl aromatic monomers are provided which have high molecular weight, high melting viscosity, graft reaction, and cross reaction. CONSTITUTION: Star polymers are obtained by polymerizing vinyl aromatic monomers with a branching monomer component which contains at least two vinyl aromatic functional radicals in the presence of a catalyst obtained from (A) a transition metal complex of the II to the VIII secondary group; (B) a cation-forming agent; and (C) an optional aluminum compound.
