In the production of monodisperse gelatinous anion exchanger with high stability and purity by: (a) producing a suspension of a seed polymer (I) in a continuous aqueous phase; (b) swelling (I) in a mixture (II) of vinyl monomer, crosslinker and free radical initiator, (c) polymerizing (II) in (I); and (d) functionalizing the copolymer by chloromethylation and amination. (I) is a crosslinked polymer with a swelling index of 2.5-7.5 and contains less than 1 wt.% nonvolatile soluble fraction. |
