PURPOSE: A method for searching broadcasting channel in playback mode of TVCR is provided so that a user can escape a troublesome key handling such as stopping drive of deck, turning mode to television mode, verifying content of a broadcasting channel, turning mode to video mode again and driving deck by managing and displaying a broadcasting signal received to a prescribed channel during a prescribed time by simple key handling while executing a playback mode in video mode and by turning mode to a playback mode again automatically. CONSTITUTION: In a TVCR which has combined functions of TV and VCR, signals recorded in a video cassette tape loaded in a deck are played back and outputted by controlling the deck if key input for playback is permitted.(200,202) If a prescribed key input for broadcasting channel search is permitted, the deck is turned to still mode and broadcasting signals received to selected channel in a tuner are managed and outputted by controlling the tuner.(204,206,208) If a prescribed time passes, the still mode is released and the signals recorded in the video cassette tape are played back and outputted again by controlling the deck.(214,216,202)
