PURPOSE: A method for removing interference of adjacent channels in digital television receiver is provided so that an attenuation of receiving signal can be prevented by searching adjacent channels and turing on the NTSC removing filter only in case that NTSC broadcast is received. CONSTITUTION: A method for removing interference of adjacent channels in digital television receiver includes several steps. In a first step, a broadcast of channel requested by a user and a broadcast of adjacent lower channel is received and synchronizing signals of NTSC broadcast is searched(401,403). In a second step, if synchronizing signals are searched, a lower flag(LFLAG) gets set up as a first level. Otherwise, the LFLAG gets set up as a second level(404,405). In a third step, a broadcast of channel requested by a user and a broadcast of adjacent higher channel is received and synchronizing signals of NTSC broadcast is searched(406). In a fourth step, if synchronizing signals are searched, a higher flag(HFLAG) gets set up as a first level. Otherwise, the HFLAG gets set up as a second level(407,408). In a fifth step, if HFLAG and LFLAG are set up as the first level, a pertinent filter for removing interference gets turned on(409). If HFLAG and LFLAG are set up as the second level, a pertinent filter for removing interference gets turned off. In sixth step, digital television broadcast requested by a user is received(410).
