PURPOSE: A solid state pickup device is provided to generate a good output signal by removing a signal charge fetch deflection between pixels and a sensitivity deflection of the pixels. CONSTITUTION: A solid state pickup device comprises a sensor array(1), two horizontal CCDtransfer registers(B,C), a horizontal-vertical transfer register(D), a read-gate(E), and an accumulation gate(F). The sensor array(A) is one-dimension arrangement of a plurality of photoelectric converting devices(2). Signal charges of even-numbered pixels of the sensor devices(2) are transferred to a second horizontal transfer register(C) as a low level, and signal charges of odd-numbered pixels thereof are transferred to a first horizontal transfer register(B) at a higher level. At the read gate(E) is applied a read pulse signal(pi ROG), and at the accumulation gate(F) is applied an accumulation pulse signal(pi CHG). The first and second CCD transfer registers(B,C) are driven by drive pulses(pi h1,pi h2). A transfer pulse signal(pi HH) is applied to a horizontal-horizontal transfer register(D).
