PURPOSE: A method and a device for producing a carrier tape are provided to attach a lid on the only face of a base material and to make compact the structure. CONSTITUTION: A driving ram(18) is operated to remove a punch(13) from a base material(10a). By lifting a pushing plate(12), a carrier tape having a recessed part on the base material is obtained. When forming the recessed part, the bottom face of the recessed part is protruded downward and the recessed part is easily formed without giving strong molding pressure to the punch. The entire part of the base material is floated from a strut(111). Thus, the carrier tape is easily released horizontally compared to the case of forming a recessed part by installing a groove inserted with the recessed part.
