A shaft (10) for a tool (46) includes a tube (12) with inserts (14, 16) swaged one to either end of the tube (12). Each insert (14, 16) has recesses (20, 22) into which material of the tube (12) can flow during the swaging process. One of the inserts (14) has a threaded socket (24) and the other of the inserts (16) has a threaded spigot (26) so that two shafts (10) can be connected end to end to form a longer shaft. A handle (34) is connected to one end of the shaft (10) and a tool head (30) to the other end of the shaft (10) to form the tool (46). |
