PURPOSE: A method for providing and receiving information is provided to request, receive and process desired information by use of a menu screen of information provided from an information service provider. CONSTITUTION: In a method for providing and receiving information using a picture telephone, a user inputs a connection telephone number of an information provider by use of a ten-key of a key input part(6). The inputted telephone number is transported through a communication control and interface part(7) according to the control of a micro computer(4), and an information provider conducts a connection through a communication control and interface part(8). If a communication connection is conducted, the information provider reads initial menu screen data from a menu screen data base(9) according to the control of a control part(11), and sends the read data through the communication control and interface part(8). The transferred menu screen data is received through the communication control and interface part(7) of a picture telephone, and is stored in a memory part(5) according to the control of the micro computer(4). At the same time, the menu screen data is processed by a camera digital signal processor(2) and then is displayed at a monitor.
