POLYMER BUMP

PURPOSE: A polymer bump is provided to reduce a possibility of damaging a hard disk drive by preventing a contact between a disk, a suspension and traces. CONSTITUTION: A polymer bump comprises a lead layer which has a thickness or a height(47) from an upper plane of a flexure(28) to an upper plane of a trace(45). An arm(21) comprises a pair of insulation pads(51) which is mounted at the flexure(28) on a side plane of the trace(45). The insulation pads(51) are formed by a polymide. In order to provide an additional height(57), the pad(51) comprises a plurality of protrusions or bumps(55) extended from the pad(51). The bump(55) prevents a contact between an insertion tool and the trace(45). The bump(45) is formed on the trace side of the flexure(28) by a partial heating process such as a hot plate or a laser texturing.
