PURPOSE: A sewing machine is provided, which contains a vertical shuttle enabling a thread to be easily threaded a shuttle and exchanged. CONSTITUTION: The sewing machine comprises a sewing needle(Na,Nb) which moves up and down according to the rotation of an upper axis(1); an axis which rotates by gearing the upper axis(1); the first shuttle body(K) which consists of the first shuttle axis(9), the first gear(17), a shuttle attaching stand(10a) and a shuttle(10); a shuttle axis stand(19) which supports the first shuttle body(K) and the gear(17) and can move along the lower axis(5); a middle shuttle pushing member(23) which supports the middle book(29) without rotation; the second shuttle body(K') which consists of the second shuttle axis(11), the second gear(18), a shuttle attaching stand(12a) and a shuttle(12); a shuttle axis stand(20) which supports the second shuttle body(K') and the gear(18) and can move along the lower axis(5); and a middle shuttle pushing member which supports the middle book without rotation.
