PURPOSE:To make the stability high by using a non-water-soluble dye and to lower the cost of an apparatus by a method wherein a laser excitation medium is constituted of water, a surface-active agent and the non-water-soluble dye. CONSTITUTION:At a dye laser apparatus, a non-water-soluble dye is dispersed in water to be in a micell shape by the action of a surface-active agent as a dispersing agent; a laser medium is obtained. When the non-water-soluble dye is dispersed in the water to be in the micell shape by using the surface-active agent, fluorescence is generated by an excitation beam and a laser is amplified. Since the dye has the fluorescence intensity nearly equal to that of a dye using an organic solvent, it can function sufficiently as an excitation medium for laser use. Thereby, it is possible to obtain the dye laser apparatus in which the laser excitation medium can be made nonflammable, whose laser output can be obtained with high efficiency and whose cost is low. |
