PURPOSE: An ultra violet -infrared polarizer is provided to be cheap and easy by forming a metal particle on a substrate in a single direction and unsuccessively. CONSTITUTION: An ultra violet -infrared polarizer comprises a glass substrate(30) and aluminum islands(28). The aluminum islands(28) are arranged on the glass substrate(30). The aluminum islands(28) are arranged so as to be integrated with the glass substrate(30) which does not interact with the aluminum islands(28) essentially. The aluminum islands(28) are spaced apart from each other so as to polarize effectively light in a wavelength range of 180nm to 700nm, and have a refractive index linear to lambda¬2 in a wavelength range of 180nm to 700nm.
