PURPOSE: A method for treating the drainage is provided, to prevent the formation of scale effectively. CONSTITUTION: The drainage which contains 50-200,000 mg/l of an organic nitrogen compounds which is degraded to generate ammonia or organic nitrogen compounds, 500-200,000 mg/l of ammonia, 50-200,000 mg/l of an organic nitrogen compound, and 0.02-300 mg/l of metals capable of forming insoluble materials, is treated to be purified by adding the polymeric scale preventing agent such that the concentration of acids is 1-20 meq/g, the molecular weight is 600-100,000 and the molecular weight distribution Mw/Mn is 1.2-7 to the drainage in the amount of 0.5-500 mg/l; acid-proofing ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds in the condition of pH 10-14; degrading and purifying the ammonia and organic nitrogen compounds in the acid-proofed gas by using the solid catalyst.
