PURPOSE: A program receiving apparatus is provided to display a reproduction program description screen of the same high-quality as a received program description screen. CONSTITUTION: A program receiving apparatus comprises an antenna(2), an integrated receiver decoder(IRD)(3), the institute of electrical and electronics engineers(IEEE) 1394 cable(4) and a digital video tape recorder(5). In a mode where decodes received program data in a real time to display the decoded data to a monitor(15) directly, a digital data recording and reproducing system(1) receives a broadcasting radio wave through the antenna(2) to transport the received broadcasting radio wave to a tuner(7) of a reception select part(80) in the IRD(3). The IRD(3) sends a reception signal(S1) from a transponder selected by the tuner(7) to a front end part(8). While a data stream received through a transmission and reception part is processed, information having no connection with the digital data recording and reproducing system(1) is skipped in a case where a display process of a program description screen is executed by an MPEG video decoder and graphics circuit(11). |
