PURPOSE: A method for driving a planar display is provided to separate display between adjacent frames in a multiple method of multi scan in a single maintaining pulse for preventing two frames from being presented in an overlapped state. CONSTITUTION: A certain negative voltage is fed to Y electrodes(Y1,Y3,Y7) composing selected display lines while feeding positive voltage to common X electrodes to operate an entire surface discharge. Then, scan pulses generated in Y scan driving circuit is fed to the selected Y electrodes in a first maintaining period of a maintaining pulse fed by common Y electrode driving circuit. And, address pulse generated in an address driving circuit according to image data to be displayed is fed to address electrodes. Then, a certain negative voltage pulse is fed to Y electrodes(Y2,Y4,Y1) composing the display lines while feeding positive voltage pulse to the common X electrode for operating the entire surface discharge of the display lines. Also, the scan pulses generated in the Y scan driving circuit is fed to the selected Y electrodes while feeding address pulse generated in the address driving circuit according to the image data to be displayed to the address electrodes. Herein, the display line selected and maintained in the maintaining period of Y electrode feed stops the maintaining discharge because the display line receives effect from the scan pulse. Herein, the distribution of subsidiary frame to each selected display line is set beforehand by the locations of the display line. |
