PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a memory module control method of high versatility which attains the use of both memory modules having a parity data memory and having no parity data memory respectively by means of the automatic recognition that is carried out by software. SOLUTION: In addition to a memory module 4, a parity data memory 6 used to store the parity data which are generated by a parity data generation/ analysis part 3 and a memory selection part 5 are provide. Part 5 selects a memory 6 that is mounted on the module 4 or a memory 6 that is mounted outside the module 4 to which the RAS, CAS, WE and OE signals outputted from a memory module control part 2 are transmitted based on the setting of software.
