PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carriage mechanism of a floppy disk drive which eliminates the inconvenience induced in consequence of the repulsive force of an FPC. SOLUTION: The carriage mechanism of the floppy disk drive includes the carriage 2 which is disposed freely movably in a prescribed direction, the magnetic head 4 which is disposed at the carriage 2, a coil 6 which is used to drive the carriage 2 in a prescribed direction and the FPC1 which is connected at one end to the carriage 2, is connected at the other end to a substrate 5 and is arranged between the carriage 2 and the substrate 5 being curved to an approximate U shape. The FPC1 is characterized that FPC is elastically extendable and contractable in the longitudinal direction.
