The amide derivatives have the formula I: HONH-C(O)-CH(R)-CH(R1)-C(O)-NH-CH(R2)-C(O)-NHR3 wherein; R is OH, H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aryl; R1 is arylmethyl or heterocyclylmethyl; R2 is alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl and R3 is H, alkyl, alkynyl or aryl provided that if R1 is an optionally substituted phenyl or naphthyl then R is OH. A pharmaceutical composition thereof is useful as an inhibitor of the processing of TNF.
