PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photoreceptive member which is improved in image quality by attaining the compatibility of an improvement in electrostatic chargeability with the lowering of a temperature characteristic and photomemory. SOLUTION: This photoreceptive member is constituted to have a conductive base and a photoconductive layer 103 consisting of an amorphous material containing hydrogen atoms and/or halogen atoms as well as the element being included in a periodic table group IIIb and consisting of silicon atoms as a base. In such a case, the photoconductive layer 103 has a first layer region 111 having a specific contents of the hydrogen atoms, optical band gap and characteristic energy (Eu) and a second layer region 112. The content of the element being included in the periodic table group IIIb in the region on the light incident side of the photoconductive layer 103 is made smaller than the content in the region on the base side of the photoconductive layer 103.
